NeuroArts — where creativity meets science

Discover the powerful connection between art, health, and wellbeing this August 13th at Noon ET. Join us for an inspiring webinar exploring the growing field of NeuroArts — where creativity meets science to improve health and well-being.

Three remarkable artists from Santa Fe, Philadelphia, and Asheville will share how art positively impacts the nervous system, emotional balance, and physical health. You’ll also hear about groundbreaking research from the World Health Organization, Penn State University, the National Endowment for the Arts, and others showing that art reduces stress, lowers heart rate, and decreases cortisol levels in the body.

This exciting conversation features Roxanne Darling (Santa Fe), Jenny Fisher (Asheville), and Trisha Patel (Philadelphia) — accomplished artists whose work is deeply supported by science and dedicated to healing through creativity.

At Science in Design ®️, we believe art has the power to transform our homes, our health, and our daily lives in meaningful ways. It’s time for art to receive the recognition it deserves as a vital part of wellness and healing.

We’re excited to lead this conversation — and we invite you to be part of it. Join us in August!

Applying Neuroaesthetics and Biophilia in Your Design Process

Applying Neuroaesthetics and Biophilia in Your Design Process brings together five certified Science in Design ®️ professionals—Kijrstjn Stahl, Nina Lichtenstein, Janine Arietta, Claudette Rowley, and Samantha Smith—to share how research-driven design is transforming the way we create healthier, more inspiring spaces.

As science continues to shape the future of interior design, the focus is shifting from understanding the research to putting it into practice. Discover the measurable benefits of design elements such as window seats, high-back chairs, fractal patterns, dappled lighting, and organized complexity. Learn where and how these features can be thoughtfully integrated to enhance well-being, comfort, and human performance.

Through real-world examples and professional insights, this distinguished panel will demonstrate how neuroaesthetics and biophilic design principles are being applied to create environments that positively influence health, resilience, and quality of life.

Neuroaesthetics and biophilic design are redefining the future of the home furnishings and interior design industry. Join us to discover how science and design come together to create spaces that not only look beautiful but also support human health and wellbeing.

In June, we welcomed Professor Helena van Vliet for an engaging discussion on reducing stress through salutogenic design—an approach that focuses on creating environments that promote wellness at their core. In her talk, “Can Built Environments Trigger Chronic Stress Responses? Salutogenic Solutions to an Under-Acknowledged Problem,” Helena shared content on how our surroundings influence our physiology and shared empowering, science-based strategies to design spaces that foster balance and resilience.
A biophilic architect and leading expert in salutogenic design, Ms. van Vliet guides us through the fascinating connection between environment and neural well-being, offering practical insights you can apply in your own work or daily life.
As adjunct professor at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, she brings both academic expertise and real-world perspective to this important conversation. Ms. van Vlient is brilliant.
